“One to One” Course Feedback Comments

2011 Feedback

“I thoroughly enjoyed this course. It is something that I have always wanted to do and the course has opened up jewellery making to me and inspired me to take my interest further. The one to one process was just right, it meant that I was able to experience a wide range of processes and techniques. I would recommend this course to anyone who has a passion for jewellery. Thank you for two brilliant days!”
Zoe Emmett, August 2011

“The course was superb and exceeded my expectations by a long way. The one to one attention really does make a difference, and you have the patience of a saint! I am amazed at the pieces I produced and just did not expect to learn so much so rapidly. It is a huge confidence boost to go from knowing nothing to feeling that you at least grasp enough to be able to make pieces on your own. There is a lot to take in over the two days, but everything is covered with meticulous planning and attention to detail which is incredibly helpful. Also, because there are some processes that are repeated that serves as a reminder of the key processes. I can’t wait to get some equipment and get started!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH”
Pam McEwan, June 2011

“I really enjoyed the course and the lovely food. I didn’t know what to expect, but I really liked that I was able to work through the whole process from the scary bit of melting down the silver to the scrubbing the item clean when it was finished. I will definitely book again.”
Diana Ion, June 2011

“Excellent. Loved the course. Would liked to have more days.”
Kevin Southern, May 2011

“I think we have written enough already but we just wanted to say thank you so much for such a wonderful day, it was really special for us and I don’t think we will ever forget it. We are so excited about the final rings, they look so professional and it’s just so lovely to have had the opportunity to make them ourselves. We also really enjoyed the range of different techniques that we had to use to create our rings. Thank you!”
Ben and Martina, March 2011

“I really enjoyed my two days with you. There was an awful lot to learn for me because a lot of the basic production and techniques were alien to me. However I was felt to feel valued at all times despite my lack of knowledge which has give me the confidence to have a go on my own as soon as I have a bit more time.”
Jacqui Jackson, February 2011

“Thank you again for a brilliant couple of days — I thoroughly enjoyed your jewellery making class and it has really fired my imagination. I’m really looking forward to developing my skills further!”

2010 Feedback

“Being an absolute novice in the field of jewellery making I can only compliment Yvonne for her teaching skills. Everything was very well explained, I did not have the slightest problem in understanding the different processes. Focus was completely on what I wanted to design and it worked very well. The days were fully packed but then I wanted to get the piece finished and did not mind working late. The whole process was so interesting I might return for more teaching.”
Susanne, The Hague, October 2010

“I was not very sure what to expect before I arrived but I thought the course was a really good introduction to all the processes and gave me a real feel for what would be involved in making jewellery. I think the production of a contact sheet of photographs is a really good way of remembering all the processes involved. I am hopeful that the evening course I will attend from next month will let me build on what I have already learned and that I will have a stronger foundation from which to start. The quality of the workshop and tools were excellent with everything very well organised and all the processes explained. The accommodation was excellent and the food really exceeded my expectations — all of it was lovely.”
Katrina Morrison, September 2010

“I learnt a huge amount in just the one day and hope I can return to attend another course in the near future. It was very helpful to learn what I was doing wrong, and also new techniques. The tuition on melting and re-using silver, piercing, soldering, filing, polishing and texturing was invaluable to me.”
Jane Meese, August 2010

“I found your course to be well above my expectations, you are a fantastic teacher and even though it was just me and the teacher I never had the feeling that you were watching so closely as to make me nervous, I will most definitely book again for an advanced course.”
Francine Wilson, July 2010

“I had a great time, I think you should carry on doing things in the way you do — it was just perfect.”
Lindsay Robinson, May 2010

“Everything on the course lived up to and beyond my expectation. Time and care was taken to explain everything very carefully. I can’t wait to put it all into practice and then come back for more.”
Kevin Marley, June 2010

“A very inspiring couple of days!”
Alison Mowbray, March 2010

“Yvonne is a wonderful patient teacher and made the experience very interesting and fun. We will definitely come back. We are absolutely delighted with our new rings and this will make the re-taking of our vows very special.”
Collette and Tom McGrath, March 2010

“I found that I learned more in two days than I did over 6 months trying to teach myself from books! I like the emphasis on “getting the basics right” and found Yvonne to be a patient perfectionist. The food was superb and an unexpected bonus. Thank you so much and I look forward to coming back, hopefully to move on from the basics.”
Catherine Brady, February 2010

“I thoroughly enjoyed my day! Yvonne taught me in an easy, understandable way and I produced two pieces of lovely jewellery, Thank you!”
Aidan Gleeson, January 2010

“My feedback for the course is 10/10! You pitched it perfectly and you allowed me to explore the tools etc at an appropriate pace. The information given to me was thorough and left me feeling confident to set up and have a go! You were very welcoming and your house was a delight to be in. Looking forward to another visit when I have practised these skills and produced some wearable jewellery!”

Previous Course Feedback

“Thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, if there is an opportunity in the future, we would not have the hesitation to come back again. Would also like to say a big thanks for being so patient.”
Ling Bei Tan

“We really enjoyed the course. Lots of ideas and new skills to take away. To be recommended, Thank you!”
Suzanne and Danielle, Dekker

“I found the whole experience excellent. The course and finish to the jewellery were better than I expected. I have never been a person to express my emotions and my professional training taught me to further contain emotional responses. So I am pleased to tell you I was absolutely delighted and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Thank you for such a good introduction to a new activity.”
Moira Lochery

“You explained each method clearly and were very patient whilst we both made our notes on the techniques you showed us. By breaking down the processes into small steps and encouraging us to practice these techniques under you supervision, we have gained confidence and increased our knowledge base significantly. We found this far more effective than learning just the theory. In a large class it is impossible for the tutor to check our understanding of techniques demonstrated. It is also hard to see what the item looks like up close, so when you stopped at each stage to show us how the work had progressed, you solidified our learning, checking that we have understood the process properly. Thank you for your tutelage.”
Lizzie Robb and Chryssanthi Buckley

“Altogether a very enjoyable time and I am very pleased with my bowl — and now have increased respect for those who make the process look easy. We covered a very wide range of techniques in what is, realistically, a very short time, but I never felt rushed or that I was not being given a full explanation.”
Heather Burley

“Thanks for a great “One to One” jewellery course. I can’t fault anything, the right amount of teaching to practical was given. We have already recommended it to friends. I can’t believe that the finished rings were made by ourselves.”
Neil Campbell and Sheila Lock

“A fantastic two days, I would love to do more work, especially experimentation and processes”
Diane Anderson, Bacup

“We would definitely recommend the course to others and really enjoyed your training, knowledge and friendly hospitality … and … the jewellery making of course!”
Paul & Jenny Wheeler, Carnforth
